ATTENTION: The Men’s and Women’s Soccer Programs are seeking an Assistant Coach. This position will work with both programs.
This position reports to the Head Men’s and Head Women’s Soccer Coaches. The selected candidate will maintain good working relationships with Head Coaches, Athletic Director, Athletic Trainers, Director of Sports Performance, Athletic Department Support Staff, and other Department and University personnel.
This position is contracted yearly with reappointments for subsequent terms is dependent upon performance, University funding and external forces.
Job Start Date is 6/1/2025 Job End Date is 5/31/2026 with the possibility of an extension.
JOB DETAILS:
Under direction from the Head Coaches, the Assistant Coach is responsible for overseeing specific aspects of the sports program including, but not limited to, scheduling, planning and execution of practice and games, opponent scouts / film breakdown, on- and off-campus recruiting, fundraising events, marketing and overseeing Overnight and ID Camps, maintaining compliance, organizing team travel, and various administrative duties.
Must be attentive to detail; keep accurate records; and possess an ability to work with a diverse constituency, including but not limited to students, parents, coaches, faculty, staff, administrators, prospective students, and other outside contacts.
Represents and promotes professional conduct, university goodwill and high standards at all events and matches and may assist in coaching at competitive events.
Assumes head coach responsibilities, as needed. The Assistant Coach reports directly to the Head Coaches for both Men’s and Women’s Soccer.
A criminal background check and driving record check will be conducted for qualified candidates.
Violation of University, NCAA or Conference rules on the part of Athletic Department personnel may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Work schedule often includes days, nights, weekdays, weekends, holidays, and travel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with athletic participants, staff, and parents of student athletes.
Current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the affiliated athletic conference, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as well as other associations and agencies to which the campus adheres, and at all times avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards.
Knowledge in the sport of soccer, as well as basic technical expertise in coaching principles.
Leadership skills to mentor and develop student-athletes, assistant coaching or program instruction staff and skills in effective assistant coaching.
Proven ability to teach soccer to individuals and the team as a whole. Personal experience with soccer.
Superior organizational skills required in order to set priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills, verbal / written / social media vital to dealing with our players and staff, as well as within the larger department, with alumni, and recruits and their families.
Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making and be an effective problem solver.
Preferred Qualifications:
Applied knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and basic computer skills.
Working knowledge of Hudl and Recruitment Software.
Goalkeeper Training Experience
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the guidance of the Head Coaches, analyzes performance and instructs participants in program strategies and techniques to prepare them for competition. Observes players while they perform to determine the need for individual or team improvement and participates in student athlete performance.
Assists in practice sessions and games.
Film breakdown for scouting and player development purposes.
Assists in the recruitment of prospective athletes within the framework of the university, department, conference and current D3 bylaws and manual.
Participates in on and off campus recruiting and managing recruiting documentation.
Travels for recruiting purposes by driving university vehicles and/or personal vehicle with proof of insurance.
Maintaining player and team compliance in collaboration with our compliance department and athletic training staff.
Planning team travel including buses, meals, hotels, community service, and additional team activities.
Various administrative duties to maintain an efficient and compliant workplace.
Participates in and organizes fundraising activities for the program and department including camps and clinics.
Additional duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Well-qualified candidates can expect an annual salary of $20,000.
This position is not eligible for benefits.
CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT:
