Mount Aloysius College, repeatedly recognized by ModernThink as a “Great College to Work For,” invites applications for a dynamic leader and experienced coach to join our Division III Athletics Program as its full-time Head Coach for Women’s Soccer. The Head Coach will assume a solid soccer program that is well positioned for continued success on the field.
The Mountie Women’s Soccer team has achieved status as a consistent contender in the AMCC postseason, reaching the Championship game in the 2018 season while recording a program-record 14 victories.
The Head Coach is tasked with ensuring continued growth and development of the Women’s Soccer program through effective strategies and planning that promote the program. The Head Coach will plan/direct the activities of the Women’s Soccer team and is directly responsible for the recruitment and retention of student athletes. It is expected that the Head Coach will meet or exceed annual recruitment goals established in collaboration with the Athletic Director. Supports overall athletic recruiting efforts at the College, and may recruit for other sports as deemed appropriate by the Athletic Director.
The Head Coach will guide and oversee conditioning of student athletes, instruct players in techniques of the game, assess players’ skills, assign positions, evaluate own and opposing team capabilities, promote camaraderie and instill good sportsmanship. The Head Coach performs other administrative duties as assigned in support of the Department of Athletics (game management, recruiting, sports information, etc.) and collaborates with other coaching staff to support College and department goals and objectives. Oversees Assistant Coach(es) or Graduate Assistant as may be assigned. In the spirit of our Mercy heritage and traditions, the Head Coach plans and leads at least one Community service initiative for the Women’s Soccer team annually. Also requires broad engagement with the Mount community and an established network to advance the development of the Women’s Soccer program.
As a DIII Institution, Mount Aloysius emphasizes the importance of academics and expects coaching staff to monitor student athletes’ academic progress. The Head Coach is responsible to comply with NCAA Division III and Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regulations; and is subject to NCAA enforcement provisions for violations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in physical education, sports management, recreation, health, or related field of study preferred. Minimum of three (3) years coaching experience as an assistant coach or high school head coach required, or equivalent combination of coaching and playing experience. Must be knowledgeable of NCAA Division III philosophy, rules and regulations pertaining to women’ s soccer. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills also required. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, student athletes/players, and recruits a must.
Ability to motivate and lead student athletes individually and in a team setting also required. Ability to work independently and as a team member is highly valued. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and some holidays required. Travel and occasional overnight stays expected for games and recruiting.
This is a full-time, 12-month benefit eligible position. This position is on campus in Cresson, PA and is not eligible for remote work.
