Summary of Position Coaches, recruits, conditions, evaluates, manages, and budgets for the soccer team within the University mission.
Position Information Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides leadership for team; establishes coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop student athletes' skills and teamwork; analyzes performance of team and adjusts strategies as needed; recruit Division I level prospective student-athletes; develops policies and procedures for student athletes and coaches.
Oversees the administration of the team budget; establishes and allocates budgeted expenditures for various aspects of team operations (i.e. travel, equipment, recruiting, aid, marketing, etc.); authorizes the expenditure of funds for team operations; monitors expenditures to ensure that they adhere to proscribed limitations; ensures that all expenditures are properly documented and in compliance with university and NCAA guidelines; prepares expenditure reports as requested.
Plans and develops team promotional strategies for fundraising, recruitment, public relations, and other marketing activities; attends promotional events, community activities, and fundraisers; prepares promotional material for distribution (e.g. team background, participant bios, letters of interest, etc.); prepares and delivers speeches and presentations at local and community groups, fundraisers, athletic events, etc.
Develops and oversees the administration of policies and procedures with respect to academic expectations for team members; communicates with academic advising staff regarding athlete academic performance; meets with athletes to review course load issues, degree requirements, course selections, etc.; counsels athletes on performance issues, study skills, and techniques for academic success.
Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Coordinates videotape cut-ups of practices and games, as directed.
Manages equipment inventory and related duties as directed.
Drives passenger vans as required.
Assists with training new hires.
Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.
Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule: Travel and non-traditional hours required.
Supervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over staff and student.

Qualifications and Competencies Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: Certification in CPR/AED upon hire; annual proficiency in NCAA Certification to Recruit upon hire; valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: NCAA rules and regulations; University policies and procedures*; office practices and procedures; department/division goals and objectives*; workplace safety practices and procedures*; English grammar and spelling; records management.
Skill in: Use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division*; managing intercollegiate sport team that includes exercising independent discretion and judgment.

Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor's degree; five or more years of successful NCAA collegiate soccer coaching and recruiting experience; experience in training and instructing collegiate student-athletes; and a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of three or more years at the NCAA Division I or II level; successful collegiate head coaching experience.
