Gulf Coast Soccer is accepting applications for a Sr. Staff Coach to join our elite player development staff. We are looking for a growth-oriented coach with a minimum of a USSF D license, at least 4 years of experience coaching, a solid background in player development, and a strong desire to continue learning to help us grow and improve our club. This is a part-time, seasonal position with near-term opportunities for advancement.
About Gulf Coast Soccer Club
Founded in 1981, Gulf Coast Youth Soccer Club (GCYSC) is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization based in Southeast Texas (about an hour east of Houston). GCS is a growing, continuously improving club with an internally controlled and well-maintained 34-acre complex, 26-field complex in Port Arthur, Texas. We employ a full-time A-Licensed DOC with 14 years of professional playing and coaching experience to lead our player, team, and coach development efforts with the help of over 20 staff coaches.
GCS provides best-in-class programs for boys and girls of all ages and ability levels from Recreational, Academy, Competitive, and Premier. The club utilizes a player-centric educational framework and process that is supported by our player development curriculum and training methodology to achieve club-wide goals and a consistent game model (playing style) that is rooted in attacking/possession-with-a-purpose and positional play as a core competency/theme. The game model, training curriculum, and methodology are planned by the staff leadership team and progressively implemented in an age-appropriate manner throughout the club from the youngest to the oldest ages.
Position Overview
The Sr Staff Coach will coach 2-3 teams. The ideal candidate will have experience coaching at all ages and ability levels and is able to work with and collaborate with staff leadership toward the achievement of organizational objectives and performance goals in the areas of player and coach development.
Supports the club’s Game Model (positional play, cognitive development, decision making), accompanying curriculum and training methodology, and coaching education to create an optimal player development environment for player, team, and club success.
Assists in creating an environment where serious players will want to play to maximize their potential; recruit and retain players such that our academy and competitive programs are full and the experience that players and families have is positive and appreciated.
Possesses leadership skills, time management, and decision-making skills.
Excellent parent management skills, relationship-centered, able to maintain positive collaborative relationships with all parents, staff, and surrounding community.
Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills; able to resolve conflict in a professional manner.
