The Dubuque Soccer Club (DSC) is a 501c3 non-profit youth soccer organization based in Dubuque, Iowa. We are hiring an Academy Director of Coaching (DoC) who will report to the DSC Board of Directors. The DoC will be a part of the DSC’s day-to-day operations and business decisions in a year-round, full-time position.
DSC is a community-based club with affordable player fees. We offer recreational, developmental and academy programs. Our developmental program, run by the Director of Developmental, is offered in the Spring, Summer, and Fall; serving 400+ U5 to U9 players with a weekly Play-Practice-Play format and supplemental practice for the U9’s. Our developmental teams play under the Iowa Soccer League. Our Academy program has 200+ players in eight age divisions from U9 to U19 (four girls and four boys). Academy teams play competitive travel soccer in eastern and central Iowa. The U9-U12 Academy teams play in the Eastern Iowa Youth Soccer League and the U13-U19 Academy teams play in the Club Development League. We routinely recruit assistant coaches from three colleges in town: Clarke College, Loras College, and the University of Dubuque.
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic applicant who is committed to building on the DSC’s 30 years of success by: enhancing player development focused programming, growing our membership, expanding our programming, and contributing to an inviting, inclusive culture that supports our players and families.
DSC Director of Coaching Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Delivery and ownership of the club’s mission and vision.
Assuring compliance with all league, Iowa State Soccer Association, US Youth Soccer, and SafeSport rules and regulations.
Developing and overseeing the implementation of a cohesive player development curriculum.
Developing and managing the coaching and administrative structure for the club, excluding the developmental and recreational programming.
Mentoring trainers and coaches.
Handling all administrative tasks associated with player registration and team formation (in coordination with the Registrar), including tryouts when applicable.
Retaining, recruiting, leading, and supervising Academy coaches to ensure quality coaching standards and practices are followed at all levels and ages.
Facilitating professional development opportunities for coaches and staff (coaching courses, clinics, etc.).
Managing team communication and planning.
Running a variety of on-field activities. This includes but is not limited to: coaching at team training sessions, small group technical sessions, goalkeeping sessions, summer camps, clinics, pick-up opportunities, etc. This position requires you to be at the field nights and weekends.
Serving as head coach for Academy teams as needed.
Develop strong relationships with players, parents, and the local soccer community, acting as an ambassador for the club and promoting a positive image.
Marketing and promoting all club programming through print, social media, and website in coordination with the Director of Marketing.
Recruiting players from the DSC Developmental program and aiding in the transition process (in coordination with the Director of Developmental)
Communicating with the DSC Board of Directors regarding any facility needs.
Utilizing strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Attending DSC board meetings.
Minimum requirements –
USSF “C” License or better
3+ Years of club coaching experience at various levels and ages
Business or administration experience
Good communication skills
Responsible, professional, and punctual
Coaching philosophy and style consistent with the club environment
Soccer player experience through at least high school level
Preferred requirements –
USSF National Youth License
USSF “B” License or better
6+ years of club coaching experience at various levels and ages
Tournament and/or club administration experience
Soccer player experience through at least college level
