Job Summary The Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach has the responsibility of assisting the head men’s soccer coach in all aspects of this NCAA Division III men’s soccer program, must have a proven record of success in coaching, developing, and assessing values of operating a collegiate soccer program. The successful candidate is responsible for the development, leadership, and administration of the men’s soccer program, including both varsity and reserves.
Job Scope Ohio Northern University invites applications in the department of intercollegiate athletics for a full-time men’s assistant soccer coach. Ohio Northern University is a Division III member of the NCAA and a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference. Responsibilities will include the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, purchasing of equipment, inventories, making travel and lodging arrangements, monitoring and nurturing student-athlete’s academic and personal progress, and organization of the soccer program, coaching at the collegiate level, and be able to adhere to all university, Ohio Athletic Conference, and NCAA regulations and guidelines.
Principle Responsibilities:
Successfully research, scout, evaluate and contact prospective student-athletes
As head coach of the reserve (JV) program, successfully lead practices and competitions
Assist in the coordination of practice and game preparation for both varsity and reserve programs
Assist in administrative day to day functions of travel, equipment, and budgetary organization and implementation
Motivate and inspire student-athletes to excel in the classroom and on the field
Help lead fundraising efforts – camps and clinics, alumni engagement
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
Proficient in Front Rush; various social media platforms
Have forward thinking and effective problem solving skills
Be able to train functional groups within team setting
Be able to work independently on multiple tasks without prompting
Have the ability to effectively communicate clearly with colleagues, students, recruits, alumni, and administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree
2 years of coaching experience AND 3 years of competitive playing experience
First Aid, CPR certification
Be able to work wide variety of hours, evenings, weekends
Be able to travel long distances including away games, recruiting, foreign tours
Work in extreme weather conditions, including heat, wind, rain, and other outside effects.
