Role and Responsibilities

Brandeis University FC (BFC) participates in the National Intramural and Recreation Sports Association (NIRSA), competing against colleges from all over the country in soccer (primarily in New England during the fall season). BFC also participates in the Northeast Futsal Association’s adult leagues, competing against teams from all over the Boston area.

• Sidekick has been working with the Men’s team for the past six years, where the team has increasingly become more competitive.
• Sidekick has been working with the Women’s team since their inception four years ago, where the team has increasingly become more competitive

FALL

• BFC attracts close to 100 players during its tryouts on ~August 30. The men’s and women’s teams compete separately but on the same seasonal timeline. Each team trains two times per week in the morning on the campus’s million-dollar turf field from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM during the spring and fall soccer seasons. The teams train in much the same way on the campus’s multi-million dollar basketball court facility during the winter futsal season. Matches typically happen on the weekends and the exact time/location can vary. The competitive NIRSA fall regular season begins on ~September 1 and concludes on ~October 15.

WINTER

• The teams tend to shift focus to futsal from ~November 1 to ~March 1 (taking a semester break from ~December 1 to ~January 20). The competitive Futsal winter regular season begins on ~January 21 and concludes on ~March 10 with matches typically on Saturday or Sunday mornings in the Waltham area.

SPRING

• There is no competitive spring soccer league but the team does train, beginning on ~March 15 and concluding on ~April 15. There is the possibility of exhibition matches during this time period.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

USSF, NSCAA/United Soccer Coaches, or UEFA license. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Preferred Skills

Experience playing or coaching at collegiate level preferred. Ability to problem-solve and communicate at a high level; written and oral.
