This is a fulltime; twelve (12) month salaried position charged with coaching and managing the women’s soccer program as well as serving the department in an administrative capacity, role TBD. As the Head Coach for the women’s soccer program, this position accepts the responsibility of assisting the Director of Athletics in the leadership, vision and supervision of the women’s soccer program. This position will assist with contest administrative coverages.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Coach/Train/Teach the sport of soccer to members of the varsity soccer team at Nichols College. •Responsibilities include but are not limited to, all aspects of coaching, planning, directing, developing and managing a successful program – conditioning, recruiting, scouting, scheduling, travel, equipment, budget management, fundraising, community service, monitoring academic progress of student-athletes, etc. •Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference and institutional policies and procedures. •Meet recruiting goals as established by the Director of Athletics and Vice President for Athletics. •Know and adhere to all sport rules, regulations and code of ethics. •Maintain certification for CPR/ AED and First Aid. •Monitor operations budget as well as fundraising accounts. •Submit / approve appropriate payroll for coaching staff (biweekly). •Submit travel expense reports within seven (7) days of travel expense. •Attend department staff meetings and institutional functions. •Represent institution at conference meetings. •Develop alumni relations for the promotion of the program. •Promote the Bison Club to all constituents. •Accept all duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by the A.D. •Report any misconduct occurrences to A.D. immediately.
Personnel Management: •Hire, supervise, mentor, evaluate and document performance review of assistant coaches •Coordinate and communicate all responsibilities with coaching staff •Coordinate all recruiting efforts: visitation to high schools, phone calls, emails, text messages, arrange campus visits, meetings with prospects, etc. •Evaluate the season, student-athletes, player recognition and nomination, etc. •Monitor student-athletes’ academic progress
Team Support functions: •Make arrangements to prepare players for season •Daily planning and implementing of practice •Daily evaluation of practice, players, tactical information, etc. •Coordination of all coaching aspects, motivation of team, practice and game preparation etc. •Home game organization: i.e. game balls, game film set up, game management/ workers, etc. •Evaluate officials following each contest •Communicate game information and results to SID •Coordination of away game preparation: meal arrangements, travel, itineraries, etc. •Assist in scheduling, i.e. non-conference opponents, game changes, etc. •Coordinate and assist in return of equipment by players and coaching staff to the equipment room (throughout and at the conclusion of the season)/ assist with inventory •Begin preparation for next season: schedule, budget, equipment, adjustments, etc.
Physical Job Components: Light to moderate lifting. Able to communicate orally, in writing and use office and telecommunication equipment. Ability to work business and extended hours including evenings and weekends.Travel is expected.
- Bachelor’s degree with experience in collegiate athletics and coaching.
- Genuine understanding and commitment to NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics philosophy
- Solid knowledge and technical skills for the sport of soccer
- Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills plus an ability to work with all constituencies of the campus
- The ability to identify and attract outstanding student-athletes to Nichols College
- CPR/ AED and First Aid certification
- Demonstrated supervisory, fiscal, and management skills
- Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to handle a multi-task work environment
- Computer proficiency.
- Valid driver’s license.
