New England Surf is a leading soccer club based primarily in Massachusetts that manages and owns four annual soccer tournaments;
- Copa Surf - March. Bringing the Best of the Best in the Northeast USA to Boston - qualifier for Surf Cup San Diego and Surf Cup International. All ages.
- Challenge Cup and Showcase - Memorial Day - End of Spring Season tournament. Biggest NE Surf event of the year with many levels of play. All ages.
- Labor Day Classic– Fall Season Kick-Off event on Grass and Turf – U8-U14
- Winter Invitational - Elite level, indoor winter showcase for U16-U19 Girls and Boys.
We are looking for a person with a passion for soccer who has Tournament management and development experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, excellent communication and organization skills to be able to manage four growing events. A strong, detailed oriented, self-starter with creativity and problem-solving skills will thrive. The Tournament Director will report to the GM and Executive Director.
The Tournament Director will also support Surf Clubs across the Country who operate Copa Surf (SD Surf Cup Qualifier) events. The Tournament Director will also support Surf Cup International Events.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Team Recruitment/Sales – establishing and building club, director, coach relationships – direct sales, cold calling required. Work with GM on e-mail and social media marketing. Develop contacts database
- Budgeting - planning and executing the tournament department budget
- Branding - oversee the purchase and implementation
- Field Contracts - private and municipal relationships
- Hiring and oversight of Staffing (marshals, athletic trainers etc)- approx 800 Man Hours per tournament weekend.
- Vendor Contracts - apparel, food etc
- Bracketing - knowledge and research of attending teams to correctly bracket for best experience. Knowledge of GOTSPORT - or ability to learn
- Scheduling – can be as many as 600 games per tournament, managing conflicts for coaching staff and clubs.
- Communication - managing communication with clubs and team officials and referee assignors
- On-site director for tournament weekend
- Assist in the recruitment of college coaches to attend events
- Obtain Sponsorship for assigned events.
Prior Tournament Director experience preferred.
