Wingate University is accepting applications for multiple athletic department graduate assistant openings in coaching, sports medicine and administration. Student-athletes on Wingate's 24 teams compete in NCAA Division II and have brought home the SAC Echols Athletic Excellence Award for 13 years straight. The positions provide full tuition, graduate student campus housing, meals, and a stipend paid monthly.
COACHING GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS
Men’s and Women’s Golf: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: recruiting student-athletes, golf swing instruction as well as mental game instruction, assisting with practice planning and preparation, assisting with travel arrangements, assisting with managing team expenses, and other administrative duties as assigned. Men’s and Women’s Tennis: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: recruiting student athletes, on court skill instruction, practice planning and preparation, conditioning and off court workouts, assisting with travel arrangements, assisting head coach in all phases of student-athlete mentoring and evaluation, and other administrative duties as assigned. SPORT MEDICINE GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP/INTERNSHIP
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: coordinating and delivering athletic training services to at least two varsity sports such as prevention, treatment, evaluation and emergency care for student-athletes during practices and games; securing all preseason paperwork for assigned sports; preparing proper paperwork for all treatment and injuries; advising the Sports Medicine team on progress of injured student-athletes; other duties as assigned. ADMINISTRATION GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS
Athletic Communications: Responsibilities include but are not limited to serving as primary media contact for select sports; serving as game statistician and public address announcer for select sport; writing press releases and graphics for select sports; assisting in website editing, game day programs, graphics, record books and other publications; assisting with updates and monitoring of Wingate social media accounts; interviewing coaches and student-athletes for features and video content; managing press box operations and supervise student workers at select home events. Marketing and Promotions: Responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating and assisting with marketing plans for 24 NCAA sports; assisting with developing and designing social media campaigns and content for weekly e-mails, printed materials, schedule posters and flyers; involved with group accommodations and hosting of fans for groups and group sales; working with campus partners for promotional collaboration; acting as the contact for the “WU Crew”; managing interns and mascot. REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS
All positions require a bachelor’s degree, admission to a graduate program at Wingate University with full-time enrollment starting in Fall 2022.
All positions are open until they are filled. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license. Positions require weekend and holiday work, extended hours, and exposure to all kinds of weather.
Terms of Employment: Ten months beginning August 1st through May 31st. Eligible for renewal based on successful performance evaluation and continued graduate studies.
