Ancient City Soccer Club in St. Augustine, FL is seeking a Recreation Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of running the recreation program.
The Recreation Director must strive to provide the recreation coaches with the necessary tools to technically and tactically develop players. The Recreation Director must have a strong soccer leadership background and technical/tactical expertise to lead the volunteer recreational coaching staff. The Recreation Director is responsible for building/developing on the club’s base of existing players and teams while helping oversee and operating all of our fields. He/she should possess strong written and oral communication skills and be able to resolve conflict in a professional manner. The Recreation Director is a part-time position, with the bulk of the work happening during the fall and spring soccer season. This position requires a non-traditional work schedule of daytime hours off the field (5-8 hrs.), evenings, weekends, and some holidays on the field (15-20 hrs.). The Recreation Director will have regular exposure to outdoor activities and all-weather conditions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recreation coach development, including recruitment of volunteer coaches for all recreation teams
- Hands-on approach with division of teams, training schedules, and equipment distribution
- Maintain inventory of recreation equipment, uniforms, and coach’s shirts – order when necessary
- Lead at least two annual coach meetings prior to the start of each season
- Work with the Academy and competitive coaches to improve the all-around development of our players and coaches. This includes:
- Coaching
- Curriculum
- Development pathway for all skill levels
- Lead and guide volunteer recreational coaches in sessions (when appropriate)
- Responsible for field set up and take down for Friday evening and Saturday games during season
- Responsible for all field operations pre, post & during the seasons
- Send out weekly practice plans for all recreation coaches
- Send out weekly communication/emails (during season) to all recreation coaches
- Periodically attend practices and games for each recreation team to provide assistance, feedback and advice
- Maintain a presence at the field during all weekend games (Friday and Saturday) during season
- Attend all Club Board Meetings, and communicate with Board Members on recreational soccer issues
- Assist Ancient City Soccer Club in building and growing the Club Culture (service, community & character) and finding corporate sponsors during the off-season
- USSF “C” or higher license or NSCAA equivalent (appropriate combination of playing and coaching experience commensurate with an advanced license may be considered)
- At least five years’ experience coaching youth soccer is preferred. Previous experience as a Recreation Director or Assistant strongly preferred
- Bachelor Degree is strongly preferred
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proficient use of email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Salary: $15,000-$20,000/year
