Cochise College soccer has enjoyed much success since the program’s inception in 1998. The Apaches have had players named NJCAA All-Americans, to NJCAA First Team All-Region teams, and to numerous ACCAC first and second teams. Former Cochise players have also played in the Women’s Professional Soccer League. Cochise College is an environment that fosters athletic, academic and personal growth through the game of soccer. The soccer field on the Douglas Campus is used by the Apaches for summer pre-season training and the regular season in the fall, but students and athletes also use the field for pick-up games throughout the year thanks to moderate temperatures and sunny Southern Arizona weather.
65 players played at the 4 year-level 12 NCAA Division 1 players, 28 NCAA Division 2 players, 4 NCAA Division 3 players, and 21 NAIA players 3 continued to play professionally. ACCAC Conference Champions in 2019 Ranked Nationally at number 20 in 2019 Bobby Peters was coach of the year in 2019
Position Summary: The Assistant Coach for Women’s Soccer is responsible for assisting the Head Soccer Coach in coaching highly competitive NJCAA women’s soccer program, recruiting student athletes, assisting in coordinating practices and activity travel, and promoting events and activities.
Duties and Responsibilities: Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position:
Assists the Head Soccer Coach in planning, directing, and coaching intercollegiate Women’s Soccer program; develops student/athletes’ fullest potential while being regionally competitive and ethically run; ensures NJCAA rules and regulation compliance
Provides quality coaching and instruction to students participating in the women’s soccer program; develops, implements, and teaches related program curriculum as assigned
Assists in the supervision and coordination of women’s soccer events and activities; attends scheduled women’s soccer practices, classes, and all competitions; enforces safety regulations and procedures
Assists with the recruitment of student athletes; supports student athletes in realizing individual, team and academic goals
Assists Head Soccer Coach in providing ongoing oversight of student athlete’s conduct both on and off the field; assists with conflict resolution, development of positive interpersonal relationships including campus integration with other students and faculty
Attends assigned college, department, and division meetings as required
Performs related duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education
Three years’ experience coaching and/or playing soccer
Prior college coaching experience preferred
CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain certification required
Valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured to drive college vehicles required
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is dependent upon qualifications. Minimum rate is Bachelors' degree prepared, three years experience. Maximum rate is Masters' degree prepared and eight or more years of full-time, professional relevant experience.
