The Head Women’s Soccer Coach reports to the athletic director and is a key member of the coaching team, who provides leadership and vision within the Athletics Department, as well as among the student athletes. The position is responsible for various aspects of the program, such as recruiting, scheduling opponents, fundraising, strength & conditioning, developing annual service/engagement projects for student-athletes, planning and preparation for matches and practices, mentoring and evaluating student-athletes, and academic monitoring. The position is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by St. Mary’s University, the Lone Star Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). In addition, this person must be committed to the education Mission of the University.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: •Teaches and instructs the technical and motivational aspects of the sport to all team members •Develops, coordinates and supervises practice and training of all team members (student-athletes) •Recruits highly competitive individuals while supporting the development of each student-athlete spiritually, academically, physically and socially •Observes all St. Mary’s University, Lone Star Conference, and NCAA policies and requirements •Interacts with university departments •Travels with both teams (evening and weekend travel required) Other Duties: •Prepares, evaluates and maintains all administrative and certification data for each student-athlete for Women’s Soccer, including the scheduling of games, practices and academic counseling of each student-athlete •Raises funds to enhance the Women’s Soccer budget •Maintains the budget for the Women’s Soccer program •Maintains continued academic success and oversees community service hours •Supervises a graduate assistant coach •May be required to assist with other sports events •Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree is required.
EXPERIENCE: Five years of collegiate experience in the field of soccer required.
QUALIFICATIONS: •Requires excellent speaking, writing and basic computer skills. •Ability to articulate ideas and strategies. •Must maintain a valid driver’s license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance, and complete the University Van Driver Training within 90 days of employment date. •Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
