About Moses Brown School
Founded by a convinced Quaker and passionate abolitionist in 1784, Moses Brown is the oldest school in Rhode Island. For over 200 years, it has taught children to make the most of their individual talents for the good of others. With an unwavering focus on values, MB provides students with an environment that nourishes their intellectual, physical, and spiritual growth.
With the gift of forty acres of land, Moses established a learning environment that would give children ample room to learn and play. Even as the city of Providence grew and expanded, this preserve of green space has been a refuge from the bustle of city life for many generations.
Of course, the campus has grown over the intervening years, adding state-of-the-art facilities, upgraded essential infrastructure, and annexed additional playing fields in nearby Rehoboth, Massachusetts.
There is no other campus in Providence that gives students such a rich experience–athletic fields, learning and library spaces, performance halls, forested glades, and plenty of open green space in which to study, relax, or enjoy a game of Frisbee with friends.
