The principle responsibility of this position will be to increase the number of youth players participating in soccer in Western New York. The main role will be as project manager of NYSWYSA sponsored “Introduction to Youth Soccer” events throughout the Association footprint. The recipient will manage the logistics of these state association operated events. The position will direct both internal and external programs working closely with the coaching staff, the executive team and strategic partners, to maximize participation, activation and exposure to the game of soccer.
This is a mixed coaching / administrative position. You must have strong technology skills including Microsoft applications and aptitude for working with social media as well as certified coaching experience. The position will report to the Technical Director with guidance from the Executive Director as it relates to program needs. It is expected that the role will be split home office/Rochester HQ office based, with travel around the Association footprint.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Event planning and project management – Introduction to Youth Soccer Days
Create/develop strategies to increase new player participation
Manage day to day aspects of any/all state sponsored new membership initiatives
Provide logistics for outreach programs; support operations of any state sponsored events or programs
Establish contacts and working relationships with external groups: school systems, YMCA, Boys/Girls Clubs, Boys/Girls Scouts (Cub Scouts, Brownies) etc.
Assist in the compilation of overview reports
Prepare monthly, quarterly informational and financial reports as required
Provide general assistance to the staff and membership
Assist with the annual NYSWYSA Workshop and Annual General Meeting
Other duties as required and assigned by Technical Director and/or Executive Director
Minimum of 2 years event management/sporting operations experience
Minimum of 2 years soccer coaching/soccer admin experience
USSF D License in soccer coaching or equivalent
Working knowledge of Microsoft software
Aptitude for working with technology, including social media marketing.
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
Experience in managing staff -employee and volunteer
Ability to handle multiple projects
Competency in identifying, setting, working toward and meeting established deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as within a team
Willingness to travel and work on weekends a must
