Cedar Valley Soccer Club (“CVSC”) seeks a motivated, inspiring and dedicated leader to become the club’s Director of Coaching and Player Development (the “DOC”). The DOC runs the day to day operations of the CV Select Programs (U4 – U19). The DOC reports to and assists the Director of Soccer Operations (DSO) with strategic planning and community outreach. Timely communication with all parties is critical to the success of the Club.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the DOC
Identify, recruit, lead, manage, and develop CVSC coaching staff to ensure player development is maximized.
Hold regular coaches meetings and implement coaching education program for all coaches in the club (Select and Recreation).
Oversee, evaluate, mentor, and assist the Select/Recreational coaches to implement the club style of play and training curriculum.
Represent CVSC to all member communities to advance CVSC's reputation and standing.
Develop/Enforce player/coach/parent Codes of Conduct.
Design and implement a parent education program.
Provide a college recruiting program and educate players and parents on college playing opportunities.
Develop/Coordinate an outreach program with the goal of increasing the overall size of the Club.
Balance the positive value of competition (and the drive to compete at every age) with the perspective of long-term learning and development -- for the players, their coaches, and their parents. Provide timely communication to parents during the season on training, league play, and tournaments.
Define player development priorities by age group.
Attend multiple training sessions and matches of each Select team throughout each season to provide instruction, feedback, and advice to players and coaches (includes Academy programs).
Develop a player evaluation & feedback process. Insure parents are informed on their player’s development following each season – provide written evaluation/feedback.
Design and administer tryouts.
Assist with all Club tournaments/events.
During the winter season, coordinate and run skills clinics for the development of players.
Create, Promote, and Direct CVSC Sponsored Camps.
Coach one or more teams as necessary.
Attend monthly Board Meetings, communicate and consult with Board Members on all soccer issues.
Assist DSO in collection matters relating to CV Select players.
USSF National C license (or equivalent) or higher is required.
At least 5 years’ experience coaching youth soccer is required, and previous DOC experience is preferred.
Coaching education experience at the national, state or local level is desirable.

About Cedar Valley Soccer Club
The purpose of the CVYSA is to promote and foster the game of soccer on the youth amateur level in the Waterloo & Cedar Falls Metropolitan Area and surrounding communities. The CVYSA carries out its purpose by sponsoring recreational and competitive soccer teams for youths less than nineteen (19) years of age and by providing training opportunities for coaches and referees.
