Overview: In 1989, the Association established the United Soccer Coaches Foundation Committee. The Foundation’s mission is to provide soccer coaching educational opportunities to underserved socioeconomic communities, geographic areas, and ethnic groups throughout the United States.
Job Summary: The Development Officer works with the United Soccer Coaches Foundation Committee to design and manage the annual campaign, endowment campaigns and planned giving through direct, online and personal cultivation of the Association’s membership, business partners, and their contacts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Act as the primary staff liaison to the foundation committee and its subcommittees. This includes managing their meeting schedule, maintaining minutes and creating support materials.
Develop robust annual giving programs to support the grant program and other functions of the Foundation. This will include solicitation of members, vendors and other interested parties through mail, the Soccer Journal, email, social media and the website.
Creating, preparing, and producing program marketing materials. Both for the solicitation of donations and to promote the accomplishments of the foundation’s activities.
Provide assistance to donors, foundation committee members and advisors to clarify giving objectives and options.
Acknowledge, thank and recognize donors through various means mail, email, website, Soccer Journal, convention, annual report, etc.
Accurately use the Association’s CRM for donor tracking, report writing and lead generation.
Maintain the content of the Foundation portion of the website.
Manage the grants and scholarships processes. Ensure that all deadlines are met, the review and scoring system is followed and that all applicants are promptly notified of the results.
Manage the budget of the Foundation Committee, including event and educational expenses.
Ability to develop and maintain a communication plan with donors, including pledge reminders, fund reports and annual report of Foundation activities.
To make selected personal phone calls or visits to major gift prospects for the Foundation and ask for donations.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Three to five years of professional experience in the fundraising field.
Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in campaign development and implementation
Knowledge of the soccer landscape across all levels (Youth, High School, College, Pro)
Ability to collaborate with staff, professional colleagues, and supporters.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with customer relationship management systems (Salesforce based preferred)
Proficiency with marketing email platforms (Pardot preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft office (including; Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point)
Working Conditions: Most work is of a sedentary nature, sitting at a desk using a computer, phone and other office equipment. Work may require attendance at Committee meetings and other company events. While a majority of work occurs in relation to a long term plan, will be required to be flexible to changing priorities and additional projects that can require work outside of normal business hours and ability to manage short term deadlines. Employee should be able to lift 25 pounds.
